Coaching
How to find a coach, get accepted as a student, book your sessions, and keep track of your classes, your credits and your payments.
Find a coach
Every coach sits on the Coaching page, one card each, and reading them needs no account.
The Coaching page
One card per coach: the name, the tier, what they wrote about themselves, the venues where they coach and the city. The card shows the starting price of their cheapest plan, and the map next to the list places every coach who has a location.
Search and location
Search covers a coach name, a city or the text of their bio, and the location picker narrows the list down by country, region and city. The count above the grid follows what is filtered.
What is on a coach page
The overview says who they are, where they coach and what their plans look like. The Coaching tab lists the bookable sessions, as a fifteen day list or a week calendar, plus the weekly classes. Pricing gathers every plan, and a Camps tab appears when the coach runs camps.
Verified, and their own certifications
A coach page only exists after our team has reviewed the application behind it, and a reviewed page carries the Verified coach badge. Certifications are shown exactly as the coach wrote them: we add nothing to that line.
Taking students, or not
A coach who is not taking new students says so on their page and on their card, and their sessions stay visible. The same page then opens a waiting list instead of an application, and the coach picks from it one by one.
Enrol with a coach
You do not book a first session out of the blue: training with a coach starts with an application, and the coach has the last word.
Fill in their form
Every coach publishes their own form: your level, your goals, your availability, whatever they need to know. What you type stays on your device as you go, so you can leave the page and come back to it.
Check what you are sharing
Before sending, a recap splits what the coach receives straight away from what stays hidden until they accept you, which is how your contact details are handled. Your application is stored in the EU, only that coach can read it, and you can withdraw it at any time.
The coach decides
A sent application shows as pending on the coach page, and you are notified as soon as it is reviewed. Accepted, it opens booking. On a waiting list, your rank is shown. The coach can attach a note to their answer.
Booking stays locked until then
As long as your application is not accepted, the page shows enrolling with the coach instead of a booking button, and the server refuses a booking paid in credits or a request to buy a plan just the same. The lock is in the database, not only in the screen.
Already a student
Once accepted, the coach appears in My coaches on your profile with your credit balance, your next session and anything left to settle, and their page opens straight on booking.
Book
Three different things can be booked, and they do not work the same way.
A single session
Pick a session in the coach calendar, check the day, the time, the length, the court and the spots left, then confirm. A full session cannot be picked, and joining is still possible while a session is running, never once it has ended.
A weekly class
Weekly classes are groups that come back every week, announced with their days, their times, their level and the spots left. You ask to join, the coach adds you to the class, and from then on there is nothing to book week after week: your seat is on the roster.
A camp
Camps run over several days, with their programme, their venue and their capacity. One button enrols you while there are spots left, and leaving frees your spot for somebody else. The fee is settled with the organizer.
Credits, one balance per coach
A coach can sell sessions in packs, and the sessions you paid for sit as credits on your balance with that coach, never a shared wallet. Paying cash sends a request, and the coach adds the credits once you have paid them in person.
Credits or money
A session can be priced in credits, in money, in both, or be free. Priced in both, you choose at booking: your credit balance, or the amount handed to the coach at the court during the beta. Card payment online is announced as coming soon, not payable in the app yet. Every price is set by the coach.
Invitations
A coach can also invite you to a private session or to a class. Invitations wait for you at the top of the Coaching page with Accept or Decline, and accepting takes your spot straight away.
One single door for every booking
Whatever you pick, the app never writes a booking by itself: it calls one server function that checks the capacity, the invitation, your accepted application and your credits, then takes your spot. That is why a session that just filled up tells you instead of overfilling the court.
Living the course
Once your spot is taken, everything happens in two places: your sessions, and the chat of the course.
Your sessions
Your sessions lists what you booked with a coach, upcoming first, with the date, the time, the length, the court and how the seat was paid, then your past sessions with attended, cancelled or no show. Weekly classes are not booked one by one: they live on the Coaching page, with a link to the chat of the next lesson.
The chat of the course
Every course has its own chat, open to the players booked on it, to the members of the class and to the coach, to nobody else. Messages, photos, polls and your location are shared there. The course page also shows the note the coach wrote for that session and the state of your seat.
Who's coming?
For a weekly class, a Yes or No poll is posted in the chat a few days before the lesson, and every active member is notified. The coach can also fire it earlier by hand. It tells the coach who to expect, it is not a booking.
Cancelling your seat
Cancel sits on the session card in Your sessions and asks for a confirmation. It is free until the session starts: credits go back to your balance, and an amount you had not settled yet is cleared. A seat already marked as present cannot be cancelled, and neither can a session that has started.
When the coach cancels
The session is cancelled without being deleted, everybody booked is refunded the same way, and you get a notification and an email with the reason when the coach gave one. Pending invitations to that session fall as well.
Attendance and payments
Money is settled around the attendance sheet, and never twice for the same seat.
The coach ticks who was there
After the session, the coach marks the players present. If you booked and your seat was already paid, being ticked changes nothing to your balance and nothing to what you owe: the sheet never charges a booked player a second time.
In a weekly class
A class member has nothing to book: the seat is settled when the coach takes the attendance, either with a credit taken from your balance with them, or with the amount recorded, per session or per month depending on how the class is billed.
Where to read your balance
My credits shows what you have left with each coach and the total, always up to date. My coaches, on your profile, adds your next session and the amount left to settle with each of them.
Payment reminders
A coach can remind you about what is still due. The reminder arrives as a notification and as an email, with the amount and the sessions concerned, and it can only be sent once every seven days per student. Nothing is charged in the app during the beta.
Are you a coach?
Coaching on Beachmates is a page of your own, a calendar, your plans, your weekly classes, your camps and your students, with the attendance sheet and what each of them owes you. You set your own prices.
Opening a coach page goes through an application our team reviews, so that students only ever land on real coaches.
